I can't remember when I first heard about Chris Morris's latest project, the soon-to-be-released jihad comedy, Four Lions. There's so much rumour and gossip on the web about what he may or may not be up to it's hard to cut through the crap and find the truth so I take it all with a large pinch of salt.
I suppose it must have been a year or two ago when some stills and a short trailer surfaced and that's when I began to realise, this is actually happening. Like an over-excited child on Christmas morning I started fantasising about a Brass Eye special on terrorism but then it became clear that this was going to be bigger than anything he'd done before, a full-on movie with a nationwide cinema release. Epic!
With only four days to go until it opens in England and Morris doing the odd tantalising, if slightly reluctant, press piece in the run-up I can hardly contain myself. Tickets are booked for Tuesday 11 at the Barbican's Cinema One and I can't wait. A report from the front line of the war on terror as seen through Morris's twisted lens will most definitely follow.
