Notting Hill Carnival

Notting Hill Carnival

It seems like only yesterday we were making our way to another Red Bull Major Lazer do at Notting Hill Carnival, and so, another year, another corporate sponsored guest list only party.

The pressure to arrive early was immense seeing as capacity was set at 2000 with a reputed 6000 on the guest list. We made our way to Westbourne Park station and wandered into the throng. First things first and we needed some food and decided what better way to get into the spirit than to smaple the traditional grub. Big mistake. My curried goat was mostly curried bone and Kate's ackee was meagre and just not very nice. A nice picnic of Pimms and canapes will do us for next year.

As we were well prepared early birds getting into the Lazerdome wasn't a problem and once we were in and had collected our first free drinks of the day it was onto the music. We saw and danced to sets from David Rodigan, Drop The Lime, Joker and a few others that I can't remember. All were great fun and someone took Drop The Lime literally as we seemed to be dancing in a small mountain of dropped limes. Afterwards we wandered back through the various soundsystems and this year we even caught a glance of the main procession before tubing back home from Holland Park.
