The annual summer season of standing in fields queuing for loos and/or bars got underway yesterday with our first festival of the year, Wireless at London's Hyde Park.
We chose to go on the Sunday to see the freshly re-formed Pulp headlining and closing the last of three days.
Jarvis was in fine form performing all the classics from Common People to Disco 2000, entertaining the crowd between songs and stradling the monitors at any opportunity.
I have to admit I'm not the biggest Pulp fan - I wasn't that interested in Britpop in its heyday - but even I can appreciate it as pop music of the highest quality and it was nice to remember what my sixth form common room used to sound like pretty much everyday.
Before Pulp's closing set we saw Metronomy - whose The English Riviera album is really growing on me, The Horrors, TV On The Radio and Grace Jones - who surprised everyone by being on-time and coherent. Next stop Field Day.
